More than 200 high school golfers who have not yet signed a National Letter of Intent during the NCAA’s early signing period of Nov. 11-18, will be showcased at three events in Las Vegas, Dec. 5-6.
The AJGA’s Winn Grips / Butch Harmon Senior Showcases and College Golf Combine are being held in conjunction with the conventions for the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA). More than 80 college golf coaches are expected during the weekend, and will be shuttled between the convention hotel and golf courses. Each coach will receive resume books with detailed information for all participants.
The AJGA’s Winn Grips / Butch Harmon Senior Showcases will be a 36-hole, stroke play event for boys and girls at Angel Park Golf Club. In all, 156 participants (129 boys and 27 girls) will compete during the weekend on the Mountain and Palm courses.
"These Senior Showcase events are the AJGA’s mission in action," said Mark Oskarson, AJGA chief operating officer. “One of the AJGA’s core values is to ensure that every talented junior golfer has the opportunity to earn a college golf scholarship. The chance to compete in front of the more than 60 coaches who attended our 2014 events translated into nearly 60 percent of participants earning a spot on the college golf team where they play today.”
"After the success of the Senior Showcases in Las Vegas, we added another event on the East coast to ease travel demands for this important segment of our membership," Oskarson said. “We hope both will prove tremendously successful in helping more AJGA members reach their dream of playing college golf.”
