Lynn New Top Team in Final DII GolfWorld/Nike Golf Coaches' Poll

(NEW YORK, NY) — The final Golf World/Nike Golf Division II Coaches’ Poll of the spring season has been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine, Nike Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The complete results, including results from Divisions I, III and the NAIA, will appear in the May 23, 2011 issue of Golf World. A victory at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional propelled Lynn University into the top spot in the final Golf World/Nike Golf Division II men’s coaches’ poll of the spring season.

It was the Knights sixth win as they prepare for this week’s NCAA D-II Championship. The school earned seven of the 13 first-place votes to jump from the No. 2 spot in the previous poll.

Central Oklahoma, the previous No. 1, also will try and claim the NCAA title this week, having grabbed four first-place votes to take the No. 2 spot in the poll.

Rounding out the top five are Abilene Christian, Barry and CSU-Monterey Bay, the latter earning the remaining two first-place votes.

Two new schools joined the top 10: No. 6 Sonoma State and No. 7 Barton.

Four schools joined the top 25: No. 16 Cameron, No. 20 Fort Lewis, T-21 Hawaii-Hilo and No. 25 Missouri-St. Louis.
