It is the first time since the return of the Golf World poll in 2001-02 that the Tigers have been ranked No. 1. The previous best showing in the Golf World poll had been a No. 6 ranking in February 2005.

Keeping its spot in the No. 2 position is Oklahoma State, followed by UCLA at third, Stanford fourth and Alabama and Georgia Tech tied for fifth. The Bruins where the preseason No. 1 and have yet to play their first fall tournament. The Cardinal won the Olympia Fields title, causing them to jump from preseason No. 12. Stanford is the only new team in the top 10.

New to the top 25 are Florida State (No. 18), Tennessee (No. 19), Oregon (No. 20) and Colorado (No. 24). For Colorado, it’s the first time the Buffaloes have ever appeared in the Golf World/Nike Golf coaches’ poll.
