Georgia Retains Top Spot in GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll

Top five remains unchanged 

NORMAN, Okla. ? Georgia continued its run atop the GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches poll - where it has been ranked since the final poll of last season. The Bulldogs claimed 13 first-place votes. There was very little change in the top 10, with the top five spots remaining unchanged.

 

Oklahoma State, Florida, Georgia Tech and UCLA filled slots two through five. The Cowboys received four first-place votes while the Bruins earned one. UNLV and Brigham Young flipped positions, with the Rebels climbing to sixth and the Cougars dropping to seventh. Arizona State and Georgia State stayed at eighth and ninth, respectively, while East Tennessee State moved up three spots to No. 10.

 

Baylor stood pat at No. 11 and is followed by Big 12 foe Texas A&M, Duke, Tennessee and Clemson. North Carolina made its first appearance in the top 25 this season, debuting at No. 16. Pepperdine and Tulsa tied at 17th. Texas Tech fell two rungs to No. 19 while Kentucky reentered the poll at 20th.

 

Coastal Carolina was also a newcomer to the poll, appearing at No. 21. Wake Forest dropped three spots to No. 22 while Southern California, Alabama and Northwestern completed the top 25.

 

Minnesota, New Mexico, South Carolina and Washington dropped from the rankings.

 

The GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll is voted on by a panel of head coaches at Division I institutions. All are members of the Golf Coaches Association of America. The next GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll will be released April 13.
