Top College Golf Teams to Compete in Hooters Collegiate Match Play Championship
Tournament tees off Nov. 2-9 at Barefoot Resort in North Myrtle Beach, S.C.

NORMAN, Okla. ? The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA), in association with Hooters of America, Inc., have announced the field for the 2003 Hooters Collegiate Match Play Championship at Barefoot Resort. Invitations to the 16-team modified double-elimination events, which will be held in North Myrtle Beach, S.C., are based on 2003 national championship finish and boasts one of the strongest fields in the nation. This marks the inaugural Hooters Match Play Championship for the women and the second for the men. The women will compete Nov. 2-4 and the men tee off Nov. 7-9.

Defending national champion Clemson and Augusta State - the winner of last year's Match Play - highlight the men's field. Arizona, Arizona State, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, NC State, Oklahoma State, Southern California, Texas, UCLA, UNLV, Wake Forest and Wichita State round out the field.

National champion Southern California headlines the women's field that includes 16 of the top 18 finishers from the 2003 national championships. The Women of Troy will be joined by Arizona, Arizona State, Auburn, California, Duke, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Pepperdine, Purdue, Stanford, Texas and UCLA.

"Hooters of America, Inc., is thrilled to again be the sponsor of such a great event in the college golf community, especially with the addition of the women's tournament this year," stated Mike McNeil, Hooters of America Vice President of Marketing. "We sponsor other sports entities, such as the Hooters National Golf Association Tour, but this event represents a unique opportunity for us to be involved in women's sports. The Collegiate Match Play Championship is a one-of-a-kind tournament in that players are able to experience more of a "team-like" atmosphere. It really is an event players look forward to all year."

Hooters of America, Inc., is the franchiser and operator of over 340 Hooters restaurants in 43 states and 10 foreign countries. The first Hooters opened in 1983 in Clearwater, Fla. Hooters is well known for its brand of food and fun, featuring a casual beach-theme atmosphere, a menu that features seafood, sandwiches and Hooters' signature chicken wings.
