Methodist Stays No. 1 in Precept Coaches Poll

Monarchs capture12 first-place votes

 

 

NORMAN, Okla. ? Methodist tightened its grip on the top spot in the Division III Precept Coaches Poll by capturing 14 first-place votes. The Monarchs only led second-ranked Oglethorpe by 24 points in the preseason poll but now leads 501-458. There was also no change at the third spot where Ohio Wesleyan tallied 427 points and three first-place votes.

 

Gustavus Adolphus climbed one spot to fourth and is followed by Guilford - who made the biggest jump in the poll from No. 12 and earned a first-place vote. Saint John?s dropped two rungs to sixth and Redlands fell one spot to seventh. Wisconsin Eau-Claire tallied one first-place vote to rank eighth and is followed by Greensboro and defending NCAA champ Averett, who also earned a first place-vote.

 

No. 11 Texas-Dallas garnered the final first-place vote to move up from 15. Emory comes in at No. 12 and is followed by Skidmore. Central dropped from 10th to No. 14 and Denison fell two spots to 15. Nebraska Wesleyan climbed five rungs to No. 16 and Otterbein six spots to 17. Wesley took the biggest fall in the poll, dropping from No. 10 to 18. Hardin-Simmons debuts in the poll at 19 while Trinity University moved up four spots to No. 20.

 

Huntingdon fell to No. 21 and is followed by Muskingum, LaVerne and Williams. Rochester enters the poll for the first time at No. 25.

Ferris State, Presbyterian and Valdosta State dropped from the rankings.

 

The Division III Precept Coaches Poll is voted on by a panel of Division III coaches that are members of the Golf Coaches Association of America. The next Division III Precept Coaches poll will be released Oct. 22.
