Florida Remains Atop GCAA/Precept Coaches Poll

Gators garner 20 first-place votes

 

 

NORMAN, Okla. ? The Florida men?s golf program begins the spring where it spent most of the fall season - atop the GCAA/Precept Coaches Poll. The Gators - who earned 27 first-place votes - have been the nation?s top-ranked team each regular season poll after beginning the season in a tie for second.

 

There also was no movement in spots two through four, where UCLA, who received five first-place tallies, Clemson and Georgia rank, respectively. Georgia Tech moved up three rungs to fifth while Arizona State fell to sixth. TCU held steady at seven and is followed by Oklahoma State - who fell two spots to eighth. UNLV climbed into the top 10 at ninth with Augusta State at No. 10.

 

Texas dropped one spot to No. 11 and is followed by Minnesota, North Carolina, Wake Forest and California. New Mexico fell to No. 16. Arizona, Washington, Duke - who was unranked in the last coaches poll - and Southern California round out the top 20.

 

Arkansas jumped four spots to No. 21 and is followed by three previously unranked teams - Brigham Young, Colorado State and Illinois. South Carolina fell three spots to No. 25.

Georgia Southern, Indiana, Kansas State and Oklahoma dropped from the rankings.

 

The Precept Coaches Poll is voted on by a panel of head coaches at Division I institutions. All are members of the Golf Coaches Association of America. The next Division I Precept Coaches Poll will be released Feb. 26.
