Methodist Still Tops in GCAA/Precept Coaches Poll

Monarchs top-ranked streak dates back to preseason

 

 

NORMAN, Okla. ? As it has been since the entire season, Methodist continued to sit atop the GCAA/Precept Coaches Poll as the top-ranked team in Division III men?s college golf. The Monarchs - who earned 12 first-place votes - streak dates back to the preseason GCAA/Precept Coaches Poll.

 

Guilford and Saint John?s tied at second with 451 points, but the Johnnies did pick up two-first place votes. Gustavus Adolphus fell one spot to fourth despite tallying five No. 1 votes. Ohio Wesleyan earned the final first-place vote and stayed at fifth. Wisconsin-Eau Claire moved up one rung to sixth and is followed by Emory and Oglethorpe, who tied at seventh. Redlands comes in ninth and Central at No. 10.

 

Greensboro fell one spot out of the top 10 to No. 11 and is followed by Denison, La Grange, Nebraska-Wesleyan, Hardin-Simmons and Texas-Dallas. Mary Hardin-Baylor made the biggest move in the poll, jumping five spots to No. 17. Otterbein, Skidmore and Averett round out the top 20.

 

LaVerne stood pat at No. 21 and is followed by Allegheny and Trinity University. Hope and Olivet enter the poll at Nos. 24 and 25, respectively.

Wesley fell from the rankings.

 

The Division III Precept Coaches Poll is voted on by a panel of Division III coaches that are members of the Golf Coaches Association of America. The next Division III Precept Coaches Poll will be released March 25.
