Cowboys Once Again Reign GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll

Georgia schools battle for second position 

NORMAN, Okla. ? Oklahoma State must be getting comfortable with the top spot of the GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll. By picking up 25 of 27 first-place votes, the Cowboys once again retained the ranking?s top position. Georgia Tech and Georgia, who grabbed a first-place vote of its own, are ranked second and third, respectively.

UNLV grabbed the remaining first place vote to move up one spot to fourth while New Mexico slipped to fifth. Florida and Arizona State each stand pat at the sixth and seventh positions, respectively, while Brigham Young moved up a rung to eighth. They are followed by Auburn and Duke to finish up the top ten.

TCU checked in at No. 11, ahead of Wake Forest, Augusta State, UCLA and Tennessee. Southern California suffered the biggest drop in the poll, sliding six spots ton No. 16. SEC foes Kentucky and South Carolina rank at Nos. 17 and 18, respectively. Texas fell a rung to No. 19 and the top 20 is rounded out by Minnesota, who raised two spots.

Michigan State - who dropped five slots - is tied with Arizona at No 21. Georgia Southern entered the poll for the first time this season, debuting at No. 23. Clemson dropped five spots to No. 24. Alabama and Georgia State close out the ranking tied for No. 25.

 

The GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll is voted on by a panel of head coaches at Division I institutions. All are members of the Golf Coaches Association of America. The next Division I GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll will be released, April 22.
