Cowboys Continue Run as Country?s Top-Ranked Program

Oklahoma State grabs 17 first-place votes

NORMAN, Okla. ?

Oklahoma State has staked its claim as the number one men?s golf team in the country for quite some time. By grabbing 17 of 19 first-place votes, the Cowboys once again made sure the only debate in this week?s GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll would be the order in which other teams were trailing. Georgia narrowly checked in at the number two spot, just a single point ahead of UNLV, who garnered the other two first-place nods.

Georgia Tech slipped from second to fourth while New Mexico remained at number five. For the third poll in a row, Florida maintained the sixth slot. SEC foe Auburn - along with Duke and TCU - jumped two rungs to check in at numbers seven, eight and nine, respectively. Arizona State dropped three positions to No. 10

Augusta State climbed two spots to No. 11. Kentucky made the biggest move in the poll, soaring five spots to No. 12. Brigham Young and Wake Forest tied at No. 13 and were followed by UCLA and Tennessee. Southern California and Texas tied at the No. 17 slot. Georgia Southern hurdled four rungs up to No. 19 while Arizona grabbed the 20 spot. South Carolina, Minnesota, Michigan State, Clemson and Georgia State round out this week?s poll.

Alabama fell from the top 25 rankings.

The GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll is voted on by a panel of head coaches at Division I institutions. All are members of the Golf Coaches Association of America. The next Division I GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll will be released Friday, May 6.
