Olson Named to US-Japan Matches Team

Washington sophomore to represent country July 13-15 at Stanford Golf Course

 

STANFORD, Calif. ? Erik Olson - a sophomore from Washington - has been selected to represent the United States at the 30th Annual Fuji Xerox USA vs. Japan Collegiate Golf Championship July 13-15 at Stanford Golf Course in Stanford, Calif. Olson will replace Duke?s Nathan Smith, who is unable to compete in the matches.

 

The 2005 Pac-10 champion, Olson became the first Husky to win the conference title since 1988 and led Washington to its first league crown since the same year. A first-team All-Pac-10 selection, Olson placed in the top 10 on three occasions this season. One of two Huskies to qualify for every tournament, he led his team in rounds under par this season.

 

The United States leads the all-time series 21-8, including nine straight victories.
