Georgia Unanimous No. 1 in GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll

Bulldogs receive all 28 first-place votes
 

NORMAN, Okla. ?

After a convincing victory to at the PING/Golfweek Preview, Georgia received all 28 first-place votes in the GCAA/Bridgestone Poll. The Bulldogs are the first unanimous No. 1 team in men?s golf since the fall of 2002.

 

Georgia Tech jumped four spots to second and is followed by Oklahoma State, who dropped a spot to third. UNLV and Duke stayed at fourth and fifth, respectively. Florida slid three rungs to sixth. Tennessee moved into the top 10 at seventh. Washington, Brigham Young and Arizona State fill spots eight through 10.

 

Wake Forest fell out of the top 10 - from eighth to No. 11. Augusta State moved up three positions to No. 12 while UCLA remained at No. 13. Kentucky made the biggest climb in the rankings - moving from just outside of the top 25 to No. 14. Georgia State checked in at No. 15 and is followed by Texas, Minnesota, Southern California, New Mexico and Clemson.

 

TCU, Arizona, Alabama, Louisville and Auburn complete the top 25.

 

South Carolina fell from the rankings

 

The GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll is voted on by a panel of head coaches at Division I institutions. All are members of the Golf Coaches Association of America. The next GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll will be released Oct. 21.
