GCAA Announces Division I National Award Recipients

Nicklaus, Mickelson All-America first-team and All-Freshmen team named

SUNRIVER, Ore. ?

Recipients of the Jack Nicklaus Award presented by Dillards Inc. and Hartmarx Corp., Phil Mickelson Award, PING All-America first-team selections and the All-Freshmen Team were announced today following the final round of the NCAA Division I Golf Championships at Crosswater Golf Club in Sunriver, Ore.

Pablo Martin of Oklahoma State claimed the Jack Nicklaus Award presented by Dillards Inc. and Hartmarx Corp. Martin won two events this season with eight additional finishes in the top five. He placed out of the top 10 only once this season.

Oklahoma State?s Jonathan Moore was named the Phil Mickelson Award winner, which is given to the nation?s outstanding Division I freshman golfer. Moore won his final three events of the season - the NCAA Championships, the Central Regional and The Maxwell. He also posted three other top 10s.

Ten golfers were accorded PING first-team All-America honors. First-team honorees included Ryan Baca of Baylor, Arizona State?s Alejandro Ca?izares, Rhys Davies of East Tennessee State, Florida?s Matt Every and Billy Horschel, Oscar Floren of Texas Tech, Coastal Carolina?s Dustin Johnson, Georgia?s Chris Kirk, and Pablo Martin and Jonathan Moore of Oklahoma State.

Erik Flores of UCLA, Brian Harman of Georgia, Florida?s Billy Horschel, Jonathan Moore of Oklahoma State and Georgia Tech?s Cameron Tringale were named to the All-Freshmen Team.
