Alabama Tops GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll

Crimson Tide third No. 1 of the fall season

After three wins in its first four tournaments, Alabama took over the No. 1 ranking in the Division I GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll. The Crimson Tide - who become the third team to hold the top sport in as many rankings.

Florida stayed at No. 2 with one first-place vote. Oklahoma State dropped two spots to third despite five first-place ballots. Georgia fell one place to third. UCLA - which garnered the final first-place vote - and Clemson switched spots to fifth and sixth, respectively. Stanford moved five rungs to seventh and followed by Coastal Carolina, Southern California. Tennessee made the biggest jump in the rankings, climbing 12 places to No. 2

North Carolina moved up three spots to 11th while Texas A&M fell three places to No. 12. Arizona State stayed at No. 13 and is followed by East Tennessee State, Lamar and UNLV. Georgia Tech and Louisville tied at No. 17. Georgia State dropped to rungs to No. 19 and Duke plummeted from No. 11 to 20th.

Wake Forest checked in at No. 21 and is followed by Brigham Young, Kentucky and TCU. Minnesota reentered the poll at No. 25.

Purdue fell from the top 25.

The GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll is voted on by a panel of head coaches at Division I institutions. All are members of the Golf Coaches Association of America. The next GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll will be released Nov. 9.
