Crabtree Begins Term as GCAA President

NORMAN, Okla. ?  July 1 marked the official change in composition of the GCAA National Advisory Board (NAB).  Mark Crabtree, Louisville Head Men's Golf Coach, takes over as the 23rd president of the association.  Crabtree recently completed his 18th year as a head coach and 9th season at Louisville.  He previously served as the head coach at Colorado State.

 

?I look forward to working with our member coaches, the NAB, and our national office staff during the next two years? said Crabtree.  ?It is my hope that we continue to strengthen our organization?s relationship with the NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA.  Under the leadership of (outgoing president) John Fields we have created many new programs, events and initiatives I am excited to continue and make realities in the near future.  The past NAB has prepared the association very well for the future.?

 

Other new board members beginning their terms July 1 are Third Vice President Mark Hankins, Iowa; Division I Representative at Large Eric Hoos, Denver; Division II Representative at Large Steve Card, Western Washington; Division III Representative at Large Bob Alpers, Saint John?s; Division I Director-Central Mike McGraw, Oklahoma State; Division II Director Jimmy Stobs, Barry; and Division III Director Dan Ruyle, Southwestern.

 

The NAB has also announced the resignation of David Lynn as head coach at Oklahoma Christian to pursue opportunities outside of college athletics.  The Executive Committee has named Jeff Griebel of St. Ambrose to fill the NAIA Representative position until a new member is elected to the position at the GCAA National Convention in January 2009.
