Labron Harris Award Scholarship Awarded

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Each year the Golf Coaches Association of America in conjunction with E-Z-GO Textron, presents the Labron Harris Award Scholarship to a graduating high school senior who is the dependent or sibling of a PGA Professional, and who resides in the PGA Section of the Labron Harris Award winning coach.  To earn this scholarship a student must meet or exceed requirements in GPA, SAT or ACT scores, involvement in extra-curricular activities and citizenship, and must not have already been awarded a scholarship from the PGA of America.  Nicholas Calcagno of Mount Pleasant, S.C. will receive the Labron Harris Award Scholarship in the name of PGA Professional and Duke University Men?s Golf Coach Rod Myers, who passed away in 2007.

Nicholas Calcagno is a senior at Wando High School and will be attending College of Charleston in the
fall.  He is the son of Timothy Calcagno, PGA, a Teaching Professional at Phil Ritson-Mel Sole Golf
School in Pawley?s Island, S.C.  He will receive the scholarship sum of $2500 over the course of two
semesters.

Ron Schmid, Carolinas PGA Executive Director, says, ?I am confident Nicholas Calcagno understands
what it means to receive the Labron Harris Scholarship in memory of Coach Myers.  Certainly he could
not be representing a finer individual and we wish Nicholas the best of luck as he embarks on his college
career.?
