American Junior World Golf Cup Team Announced
Flores, Green, Smith and Swan to represent USA


NORMAN, Okla. -
The GCAA and the Junior Orange Bowl Committee released the 2005 USA Junior World Golf Cup team. Those set to represent their country are Erik Flores of Grass Valley, Calif., Michael Green of Augusta, Ga., Nick Smith of Ocala, Fla., and Matthew Swan of Montgomery, Ala. The event will be held June 21-14 at Chuko Country Club in Toyota, Japan, and coached by Scott Moe of Gustavus Adolphus.

Erik Flores currently attends Nevada Union High School in Grass Valley, Calif. He is a two-time AJGA All-American and the FCWT West Region Player of the Year. He currently holds a +4.6 handicap and was named the MVP of his high school team three times. Flores has signed to play golf at UCLA next year.

Michael Green currently attends the Academy of Richmond County in Augusta, Ga. Green was named a 2004 third-team AJGA All American and the 2004 Georgia Junior Player of the Year. The 2004 Georgia Junior Champion holds a handicap of +3. He has signed a letter of intent to play for the Georgia.

Nicholas Smith is a four-time AJGA All- American. He currently attends Belleview High School in Ocala, Fla. In 2004, Smith was named a third-team AJGA All-American. He holds a +4 handicap and has signed to play at Florida State next year.

Matthew Swan, the 2004 State 4-A Champion in Alabama, currently attends Trinity Presbyterian in Montgomery. The four-time All-State selection holds a handicap of +3 and is ranked in the top 10 in Golfweek's National Junior Rankings. He will attend the University of Alabama in the fall.

 

"I am excited about our chances," said Moe. " We have some extremely talented players. We have big shoes to fill as the defending champion but I think we are ready for the challenge."
