Precept Coaches Poll :: Feb. 26

Clemson Retains Top Spot in Precept Coaches Poll
No. 2 Augusta State Claims 17 first-place votes

NORMAN, Okla. ?

Despite receiving only nine of 30 first-place votes, the Clemson Tigers remain No. 1 in the Precept Division I Coaches Poll, edging second-ranked Augusta State, 724-711. The Jaguars claimed nearly double the first-place votes of Clemson (17), but all of the Tigers remaining votes were in top four, allowing them to retain the top spot.

TCU earned its highest ranking of the season climbing from No. 6 to third and claimed one first-place vote. Florida dropped one spot to fourth and is followed by Arizona, winner of back-to-back tournaments, who received a vote for No. 1. UNLV, who climbed two spots to sixth, also received a first-place vote and is followed by Wake Forest, Texas, UCLA and Minnesota. UCLA made the biggest jump in the poll, moving up 13 spots to ninth.

North Carolina comes in at No. 11 and is followed by Oklahoma State, Duke and Georgia, who took the biggest drop in the polls and fell out of the top 10. Illinois, Georgia Tech and New Mexico, who received the remaining first-place vote, each fell one spot. Oklahoma re-entered the poll at No. 18 and was followed by Washington and NC State.

Two other newcomers - Southern California and Pepperdine - entered the poll at Nos. 21 and 23, respectively. Northwestern climbed two spots to No. 22 with Michigan State (No. 24) and College of Charleston rounding out the top 25.

Auburn, Fresno State and Tennessee dropped out of the rankings.
