Clemson Still No. 1 in Precept Coaches Poll

Tigers garner 19 first-place votes 

NORMAN, Okla. ?

As they have all spring season, the Clemson Tigers remain atop the lastest Precept Division I Coaches Poll. The Tigers earned 19 first-place votes to easily outdistance No. 2 Oklahoma State, who garnered two No. 1 votes and is second for consecutive polls.

 

Clemson and Oklahoma State is followed by Arizona, winners of the National Invitational Tournament, who received two first-place votes and moved up from fifth. Augusta State falls to fourth, despite three first-place tallies and winning the Cleveland Golf/ASU Invitational, with Wake Forest, who also received a first place-vote, coming at No. 5. UC-Irvine, who is not ranked in this week?s poll, received the only other first-place vote.

 

Texas falls from No. 4 to sixth and is followed by UNLV, TCU, Florida and UCLA. Georgia starts off the second 10 with North Carolina at No. 12. Nos. 13 through 16 showed no change with Minnesota, Georgia Tech, NC State and Auburn filling those spots. New Mexico, Arizona State, Duke and Washington round out the top 20. College of Charleston and Oklahoma remain at Nos. 21 and 22, respectively, and are followed by Northwestern and Illinois. Southern California re-enters the poll at No. 25.

 

Pepperdine fell from the top 25.

 

To vote in the Precept Coaches Poll, a coach must be a member of the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The next Precept Coaches poll will be released May 7.
