Presidential Scholarship Fund
During our National Advisory Board (NAB) annual meeting in December 2012, a decision was reached to establish a Presidential Scholarship Fund to provide annual academic support for deserving children and grandchildren of GCAA members. Currently $10 from each membership goes toward the scholarship fund. In order to create a sustainable fund, the board established a minimum threshold of $100,000 in accrued funds prior to awarding initial scholarships.
Subsequent to the announcement of the scholarship fund during the 2012 national convention, several individuals, including current member coaches, stepped forward with personal contributions. It is the sincere hope of the NAB that each member coach will consider sharing this information with their former players and friends of the program going forward.
In the near future an ad-hoc committee to develop operating procedures and guidelines that will used to select future recipients. GCAA Legal Counsel Tracy Richardson has graciously agreed to serve as advisor to this committee. More details regarding the committee will be posted here as they are finalized. Below please find a pledge form available for download that may be used by individuals wishing to make a contribution to the new scholarship fund.
As a 501-(c)3 non-profit, all contributions to the Presidential Scholarship Fund will be tax deductible. Receipts recognizing contributions will be mailed by the national office staff. If you have questions or suggestions regarding any aspect of this new initiative, please do not hesitate to give the National Office a call at 405 329-4222.
