Cal State-Bakersfield New No. 1 in Precept Coaches Poll

West Florida slips to second

 

 

NORMAN, Okla. ? Cal State-Bakersfield earned five first-place votes to become the new top-ranked team in the Division II Precept Coaches Poll. West Florida claimed one first-place vote to drop to second. Chico State tallied four first-place votes to jump from eighth to third.

 

Cal State-Stanislaus and Francis Marion each moved up one spot to fourth and fifth, respectively. Francis Marion also received a first-place vote. Western Washington also garnered a first-place vote and climbed four spots to sixth. South Carolina-Aiken fell from fourth to seventh. Delta State made the biggest move in the poll, rising 14 spots to eighth, and claimed two first-place votes. Florida Southern earned one first-place vote to stay at ninth and Rollins fell eight rungs to No. 10 despite tallying two first-place votes.

 

California-San Diego debuted in the poll at No. 11 and is one of seven teams that were not ranked in the last poll. The others are Arkansas Tech (T-15), St. Mary?s (18), Northeastern State (20), Saint Martin?s College (23), Coker College (24) and Hawaii-Hilo (25).

 

Pfeiffer checked in at No. 12 and is followed by Central Arkansas and Central Oklahoma. Grand Canyon is tied with Arkansas Tech at No. 15. North Alabama plummeted 10 spots to No. 17 and Armstrong Atlantic State fell from No. 11 to No. 19, despite earning a first-place vote. Cameron and Colorado-Colorado Springs came in at Nos. 21 and 22, respectively.

Abilene Christian, Barton, Columbus State, Georgia College & State University, Grand Canyon, Kennesaw State and Lynn fell from the rankings.

 

The Division II Precept Coaches Poll is voted on by a panel of Division II coaches and administrators that are members of the Golf Coaches Association of America. The next Division II Precept Coaches poll will be released next spring.
