Jakovac to Play in Palmer Cup Presented by Monster
Senior from Chico State replaces Wittenberg on U.S. Team

NORMAN, Okla. ? In light of the decision by Casey Wittenberg of Oklahoma State to turn professional after the conclusion of the U.S. Open, J.J. Jakovac, a senior from the Chico State University, has been invited to compete in the 2004 Palmer Cup presented by Monster for Team USA announced the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The U.S. team will compete against Europe in this Ryder Cup-style competition at Ballybunion Golf Club in County Kerry, Ireland, August 6-7.

The 2004 Jack Nicklaus presented by Dillard, Inc. and Hartmarx Corp. and two-time Outback Steakhouse Arnold Palmer Award winner, Jakovac will become just the second Division II golfer to compete for Team USA in the eight years of the event. A first-team PING All-America selection for the third-straight season, the senior from Napa, Calif., claimed medalist honors four times last season along with eight top-five finishes and 11 top-10 finishes in 12 tournaments. Of his 37 rounds last season, 28 were par or better.

"I am very excited about this opportunity," said Jakovac. "Playing in the Palmer Cup is as good as it gets."

The U.S. team leads the Palmer Cup presented by Monster Series, 4-2-1, and has won the only previous meeting in Ireland.
