USC-Aiken Still No.1 in GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll

Pacers stay in top spot despite first loss of the season 

NORMAN, Okla. ? South Carolina-Aiken continued its hold on the top spot in the Division II GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll despite its seven-tournament winning streak being snapped by a tied for sixth finish at the AASU/Southbridge Pirate Invitational.  The Pacers earned eight first-place votes to stay at No. 1.

 

Cal. State-Bakersfield stayed in second while West Florida moved up one spot to third.  Central Oklahoma jumped seven places to fourth and Lynn bumped up two rungs to seventh.  Hawaii-Hilo - who was ranked second in the final fall poll - dropped from second to sixth despite receiving one first-place tally.  Seventh-ranked Rollins and No. 8 Georgia College & State University - who earned the final first-place vote - moved into the top 10 and are followed by Western Washington and UC-San Diego.

 

Columbus State made the biggest move in the poll, leaping 14 spots to No. 11.  Delta State and Grand Canyon also took big climbs in the poll - up six spots to Nos. 12 and 13, respectively.  Saint Martin's fell from the top 10 to No. 14 and is followed by Cameron, Barry, Valdosta State, Nova Southeastern and Armstrong Atlantic State.  Florida Gulf Coast suffered the biggest drop - plummeting 10 places to No. 20.

Florida Southern enters the poll at No. 21.  Northeastern State, Cal. State-Stanislaus, St. Mary's (Texas) and Chico State complete the top 25.

 

Coker fell from the ranking.

 

The GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll is voted on by a panel of head coaches at Division II institutions. All are members of the Golf Coaches Association of America. The next Division II GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll will be released March 25.
