Methodist Leads GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll


Oglethorpe making run towards the top
 

NORMAN, Okla. ?

Methodist - who has been the top-ranked team all season in Divisoin III men?s golf - landed nine first-place votes to stay No. 1 in the GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll. Oglethorpe garnered seven first-place votes to move up three slots to second. Guilford and Redlands each grabbed two first-place votes but nonetheless fell a spot to numbers three and four, respectively.

 

St. John?s (Minn.) checked in at number five while Greensboro jumped up four rungs to number six. Otterbein stayed at seventh. Nebraska Wesleyan dropped two spots to sixth and is followed by Emory and Central

 

Nos. 11 through 15 remained unchanged this week. Huntingdon, Gustavus Adolphus, Texas Lutheran, La Grange and LaVerne, repectively, held those positions. Wisconsin-Eau Claire and Saint Thomas switched places this week to check in at Nos. 16 and 17. Skidmore jumped four rungs to No. 18 while California Lutheran and Illinois Weleyan closed out the top 20.

 

The the final five spots of the poll were Mary Hardin-Baylor, Ohio Wesleyan, Washington & Lee, Claremont McKenna-Mudd-Scripps and Franklin.

 

Denison, Hardin-Simmons and Randolph Macon fell from the top 25 rankings.

 

The GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll is voted on by a panel of head coaches at Division III institutions. All are members of the Golf Coaches Association of America. The next Division III GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll will be released May 6.
