Guilford Continues Run On Top GCAA/Bridgestone Poll

Top four remain unchanged

 

NORMAN, Okla. ? Guilford grabbed 12 of 16 first-place votes to keep its distance over the rest of the field in this week?s GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll. Methodist and its three first-place nods came in second, followed by Oglethorpe, Huntingdon - which held the last top vote - and Wisconsin-Eau Claire to close out the top five.

 

Otterbein fell a position to number six while Emory held tight to the number seven slot. Nebraska Wesleyan and Saint John?s switched places to come in at eighth and ninth, respectively, and were followed by Gustavus Adolphus at No. 10.

 

La Grange slipped a rung to 11th, just ahead of this week?s biggest jumper - Texas Lutheran- which flew up to No. 12 from 18th. Redlands and Skidmore held on to Nos. 13 and 14, respectively, while Rhodes rose two slots to 15th. Allegheny, Greensboro, Mary Hardin-Baylor, Ohio Wesleyan and Central rounded out the top 20.

California Lutheran jumped four positions to edge out two previously-unranked teams for 21st. Those teams - New York and Saint Thomas - checked in at Nos. 22 and 23, respectively. This week?s poll was rounded out by DePauw and Franklin.

 

St. John Fisher and Whitworth dropped from the rankings.

 

The GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll is voted on by a panel of head coaches at Division III institutions. All are members of the Golf Coaches Association of America. The next GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll will be released April 6.
