American Team Announced for U.S. vs. Japan Matches

Team USA to travel to Tochigi, Japan, July 13-15
 

NORMAN, Okla. ?

The United States Team has been named for the 2006 Fuji Xerox U.S.A. vs. Japan Collegiate Golf Championship by the Golf Coaches Association of America. The 12-member squad will consist of eight men?s and four women?s collegiate players. The 31st annual competition will be held July 13-15 at Sun Hills Country Club in Japan?s Tochigi prefecture.

 

Amanda Blumenherst of Duke, South Carolina-Aiken?s Scott Brown, Colin Clark of Guilford, Southern California?s Irene Cho, Alex Coe of Pepperdine, Northwestern?s Dillon Dougherty, Andrew Dresser of Texas Tech, BYU?s Jake Ellison, Dustin Johnson of Coastal Carolina and Erik Flores, Tiffany Joh and Jane Park of UCLA will comprise the U.S. squad.

 

The American team boasts five conference players of the year - Blumenherst (ACC), Brown (Peach Belt), Cho (Pac-10), Ellison (MWC) and Johnson (Big South). Additionally, Blumenherst and Brown claimed their individual league title while Flores and Joh were named Pac-10 freshmen of the year. All 12 members Team USA were named all-conference.

 

Team USA leads all-time U.S.A. vs. Japan Collegiate Golf Championship series, 23-7, and has won 10-straight competitions.
