Georgia Stays Atop Golf World/NIKE Golf Divisoin I Coaches' Poll 

NEW YORK, NY?The fourth Golf World/Nike Golf Division I Coaches? Poll of the spring season has been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine, NIKE Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The complete results, including results from Divisions II, III and the NAIA, will appear in the May 18th issue of Golf World.  Georgia remains the number one team in the D-I poll, earning 17 of the 23 first-place votes.

The Bulldogs won the SEC title last month, one of their five victories on the season. They have held the top spot in the poll since the last poll of the fall season. Georgia competes this week in the NCAA D-I regionals.

Big 12 champion Oklahoma State remains No. 2, grabbing two first-place votes. Washington, which won the Pac-10 title, moved into the third spot, and received four first-place votes. Southern California and Clemson round out the top-five.

Arkansas (No. 9) and Illinois (No. 10) joined the top-10 this week, after being ranked Nos. 13 and 12, respectively, in the previous coaches? poll. The Razorbacks finished second at the SEC Championship, their ninth top-five finish of the season. The Fighting Illini won their first Big Ten title in 21 years.

San Diego State (No. 22) and Oregon (No. 25) moved into the top-25. The Aztecs lost the Mountain West Conference Championship in a playoff to TCU, and the Ducks finished runner-up at the Pac-10 Championship.
