GCAA Summer Series: An Exciting Finish Set at Lonnie Poole

Holding a three shot lead heading into a rainy second round of the GCAA Summer Series at Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, North Carolina, NC State’s Carter Graf now finds himself in a share of the lead with 18 holes to play.

Graf looked to be on cruise control through No. 14 but had his round derailed with bogeys on Nos. 15, 16 and 18 for a back nine two-over 38, finishing the second round with a score of one-over 72.

Building on a solid first day was Gainesville, Ga. native, Bartley Forrester. The Georgia Tech senior used a front nine 34 and three back nine birdies to propel himself from third to a tie for first alongside Graf at four under par.

“I played really well,” Forrester told the GCAA. “You know I kept it in play all day for the most part, and I just putted real well. I’ve putted real well the last couple days. It saved me yesterday because I didn’t hit it that well yesterday, and today I hit it better.”

Among those chasing down Graf and Forrester during Wednesday’s final round will be led by Oregon’s Yin Ho Yue and Western Kentucky’s Connery Meyer. The duo sit just two shots back of the leaders at two-under and are coming off sub-par rounds. In addition to Meyer and Yue, three more golfers are within four shots of the overnight leaders.

Having to post a number, Yue, who tees off at 9:30 am ET, will have a short wait in the clubhouse as Graf, Forrester, and Meyer are set to tee off at 9:42 am ET.
