(NEW YORK, NY) - The latest Golf World/Nike Golf Division I College Coaches’ Poll has been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine, Nike Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The complete results, including results from Divisions II, III, NAIA and NJCAA will appear in the May 6, 2013 issue of Golf World. California's historic play in 2012-13—nine wins in 11 starts—has the Golden Bears remaining atop the latest Golf World/Nike Golf men's Division I coaches' poll.
The Golden Bears earned all 21 first-place votes as they attempt to defend their Pac-12 Championship title when play ends today at Los Angeles CC and move into the NCAA postseason.
Alabama, fresh off its SEC title, holds the No. 2 spot as it to awaits which NCAA regional site it will be sent to for the postseason. Defending NCAA champion Texas, which claimed its first Big 12 title last week in nine years, moved to the No. 3 spot, with UCLA and New Mexico rounding out the top five.
No new schools joined the top 10. Two programs joined the top 25: No. 22 South Carolina, runner-up at the SEC Championship, and Mississippi State, which tied for the 24th spot. It is the first time the Bulldogs have been in the Golf World/Nike Golf poll since it was resumed in 2001-02.
