(NEW YORK, NY) -The final Golf World/Nike Golf Division I College Coaches’ Poll of the 2013 spring season has been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine, Nike Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The complete results, including results from Divisions II, III, NAIA and NJCAA will appear in the May 20, 2013 issue of Golf World. With the NCAA Regionals set to begin later this week, California starts the postseason as unanimous No. 1 selection in the final spring Golf World/Nike Golf men's Division I coaches' poll.
The Golden Bears earned all 20 first-place votes after capping off a regular season in which they won outright or a share of 10 tournament titles in 12 starts. All five starters on Steve Desimone's squad have stroke averages of 71.2 or lower with sophomore Michael Kim recently being named a finalist for the 2013 Ben Hogan Award for outstanding play in college and amateur golf.
Remaining in the Nos. 2 and 3 spots are Alabama, the SEC champion, and Texas, the defending NCAA champion and recent winner of the Big 12 title. Rounding out the top five are New Mexico and UCLA, the two schools sharing the No. 4 spot.
No new teams joined the top 10 or the top 25.
