(NEW YORK, NY) — The final Golf World/Nike Golf Division I College Coaches’ Poll of the 2011 fall seasonhas been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine, Nike Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The complete results, including results from Divisions II, III and the NAIA, will appear in the November 28, 2011 issue of Golf World. Texas, ranked fifth in the preseason poll, closed out the fall as the top ranked team in the Golf World/Nike Golf men’s Division I coaches’ poll.
The Longhorns won three of their four fall starts, with senior Dylan Frittelli and freshman Jordan Spieth each sporting stroke averages of 70.08 or better. Texas claimed 19 of 22 first-place votes.
In second place jumping one spot from the previous poll, is Oregon. The Ducks also won three titles this fall and are led by Eugene Wong, winner of Golf World’s Player of the Mid-Season honor.
Rounding out the top five are SEC rivals Arkansas and Auburn, and Pac-12 power UCLA, the top-ranked team in the preseason.
New to the top 10 is No. 7 North Florida, winner of the AutoTrader.com Invitational and the Ameila National Invitational.
New to the top 25: No. 14 Texas A&M and Wichita State, which tied for 24th place.
