(NEW YORK, NY) - The latest Golf World/Nike Golf Division I Coaches’ Poll has been released, combining the resources ofGolf World magazine, Nike Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The complete results, including results from Divisions II, III, NAIA and NJCAA will appear in the December 9, 2013 issue of Golf World. Closing out an undefeated first half to the 2013-14 college campaign, Alabama remained No. 1 in the final Golf World/Nike Golf men's Division I coaches' poll.
The Crimson Tide was the unanimous choice, earning all 22 first-place votes after being victorious in all four tournament appearances. Carrying over from last spring, the defending NCAA champions won 11 of their 12 starts in the 2013 calendar year.
Also holding on to the No. 2 and No. 3 positions in the poll are Georgia Tech and California. The Yellow Jackets are led by junior Ollie Schniederjans, Golf World's selection as the top men's player of the fall, and won two titles while finishing second in two other starts. The Golden Bears won three of their five starts after having 11 wins in the previous season.
Rounding out the top five are Oklahoma State and Georgia. The Cowboys won back-to-back titles at the U.S. Collegiate and Royal Oaks Invitational to close out the fall while the Bulldogs were victorious at the Dick's Sporting Goods Challenge and posted four other top-five finishes.
Two new squads entered the top 10: No. 8 UCF and No. 10 Virginia. It's the highest either school has ever been ranked since Golf World resumed the coaches' polls at the start of the 2001-02 season.Four new schools joined the top 25: No. 19 USF, No. 22 Florida State, No. 24 USC and No. 25 South Carolina.
