NEW YORK (February 26, 2014) — The first Golf World/Nike Golf Division III College Coaches’ Poll of the Spring 2014 season has been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine, Nike Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The complete results, including results from Divisions I, II, NAIA and NJCAA will appear in the March 3, 2014 issue of Golf World. Wittenberg, ranked No. 1 for a portion of the fall semester, returned to the top spot in the first spring edition of the Golf World/Nike Golf Men's Division III college coaches' poll.
The Tigers play for the first time since the winter break next month in South Carolina after finishing no worse than second in four starts last fall.
Previously top-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps dropped one spot to the No. 2 ranking. The Stags finished third and second in their first two events of the spring semester. Still, they did earn seven of the 17 available first-place votes.
Redlands, picking up six first-place votes after knocking off Claremont-Mudd-Scripps last week in California, moved into the third spot, with Oglethorpe and St. John Fisher rounding out the top five.
One new team joined the top 10: Transylvania with a share of the No. 9 spot. No new schools joined the top 25.
