Methodist Tops Preseason Precept Coaches Poll
Defending national champion Averett Ranked Eighth

NORMAN, Okla. ? Methodist College - the program that has won more NCAA championships than any other team currently in Division III men?s golf - tops the preseason Precept Division III Coaches Poll. Averett - who claimed their first national title last season - is eighth.

 

Oglethorpe is ranked second in the poll and is followed by Ohio Wesleyan, Saint John?s, Gustavus Adolphus, Redlands and Greensboro College. Wisconsin-Eau Claire comes in at ninth with Central College and Wesley College tied at No. 10

 

Guilford - who claimed the 2002 national championship - is 12th and is followed by Denison and Emory. Texas-Dallas is the highest ranked team that failed to qualify for last season?s NCAA Championships at No. 15. Skidmore College comes in at 16th with Muskingum College, Huntingdon College, Williams College and Christopher Newport filling Nos. 16-20.

 

Nebraska Wesleyan, LaVerne, Otterbein College, and Trinity University come in at slots 21-24, with Allegheny College and Savannah College of Art & Design tied at 25th.

 

The next Division III Precept Coaches poll will be released Oct. 1.
