Chico State Edges Bakersfield to Remain No. 1 in GCAA/Precept Coaches Poll

Wildcats earn eight first-place votes

 

 

NORMAN, Okla. ? Chico State earned eight first-place votes to edge Cal. State-Bakersfield to remain No. 1 in the GCAA/Precept Coaches Poll. Bakersfield tallied six first-place ballots but trail Chico, 412-404.

 

West Florida also received a first-place vote and moved up one spot to third and was followed by Cal. State-Stanislaus who dropped one place to fourth. Hawaii-Hilo also earned one first-place vote to rank fifth, as did seventh-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State. Francis Marion jumped two spots to sixth, while UC-San Diego and St. Mary?s both fell three places to eighth and ninth, respectively. South Carolina-Aiken moved up a spot to No. 10.

 

Western Washington dropped one spot to No. 11 and is followed by Central Oklahoma, Pfeiffer, Cameron and Florida Southern. Delta State took the biggest fall in the poll, plummeting seven notches to No. 16. Saint Martin?s stood pat at No. 17 with Coker, Grand Canyon and Northeastern State completing the top 20.

 

Georgia College & State University and Kennesaw State entered the poll after being previously unranked at Nos. 21 and 24, respectively. Central Arkansas (No. 22), Columbus State (No. 23) and Rollins (N0. 25) round out the poll.

Grand Valley State and Barton were dropped from the rankings.

 

The Division II Precept Coaches Poll is voted on by a panel of Division II coaches and administrators that are members of the Golf Coaches Association of America. The next Division II Precept Coaches poll will be released March 25.
