MINAKUCHI, Japan ? The United States shot even par to hold off South Africa and win the 2004 Toyota Junior World Golf Cup at the 7,006-yard, par 72 bear?s Paw Country Club in Minakuchi, Japan. The title was the USA?s first since 2000 and sixth overall. South Africa?s Matthew Kent was two-under-par for the round to win the individual title by seven strokes. (more)

The United States fired a tournament single-round record 204 during the third round of the Toyota Junior World Golf Cup at the 7,006-yard, par 72 bear?s Paw Country Club in Minakuchi, Japan. The 204 moves the U.S. squad to 25-under 623 - a three-round tournament record - and widened its lead over second place South Africa to four strokes. South Africa?s Matthew Kent made 66 and improved his lead over Garrett Sapp of the United States to two shots. (more)

The United States shot six-under par 210 for a two-round 13-under par 419 to retain a two-stroke lead over Canada and South Africa after the second round of the Toyota Junior World Golf Cup. South Africa?s Matthew Kent broke the tournament and course record by firing an eight-under 64 to move past Garrett Sapp of the United States and Spain?s Pablo Martin Benavides for a one-stroke lead at the 7,006-yard, par 72 bear?s Paw Country Club in Minakuchi, Japan. South Africa posted a four-under 212 to sit three shots back at the 7,006-yard, par 72 bear?s Paw Country Club in Minakuchi, Shiga-Prefecture, Japan. NORMAN, Okla. ? Golf legend Arnold Palmer has accepted to serve as honorary captain for the United States team at the 2004 Toyota Junior World Cup. The competition will take place June 22-24 in Bear?s Paw Golf Club - a par-72 mountain course outside of Shiga, Japan. Arkansas head coach Mike Ketcham has been tabbed to coach the American squad.
