Methodist Stand Firm Atop GCAA/Precept Coaches Poll

Monarchs capture 15 first-place votes
 

NORMAN, Okla. ?

Methodist continued its run as the top-ranked Division III men?s golf team by picking up 15 first-place votes. The Monarchs have been ranked No. 1 in every regular season poll since May 7, 2003.

Nos. two and three remained unchanged with Guilford and Redlands - who picked up a single first place vote. Oglethorpe moved up two spots to fourth, bumping Saint John?s to fifth. Nebraska Wesleyan jumped eight spots to sixth while Otterbein stood pat at seventh and Emory slid three spots to eighth. Central and Gustavus Adolphus - who picked up a single first-place vote - round out the top 10.

Texas Lutheran, Greensboro and Huntingdon checked in at Nos. 11 through 13. Huntingdon earned a lone first-place vote in its debut in the poll. Ohio Wesleyan dropped three spots to No. 14 while Wisconsin Eau-Claire and LaVerne slid to Nos. 15 and 16, respectively. Denison, Saint Thomas, McMurry and La Grange complete the top 20.

Rhodes and Skidmore tied for No. 21. They are followed by Mary Hardin-Baylor, Hardin-Simmons and California Lutheran to round out the top 25.

Southwestern was dropped from the rankings.

The GCAA/Precept Coaches Poll is voted on by a panel of head coaches at Division III institutions. All are members of the Golf Coaches Association of America. The next Division III GCAA/Precept Coaches Poll will be released in the spring.
