USC-Aiken Keeps Commanding Lead in GCAA/Bridgestone Poll
Posted Friday, April 15, 2005 USC-Aiken Keeps Commanding Lead in GCAA/Bridgestone Poll NORMAN, Okla. ? South Carolina-Aiken picked up 11 first-place nods to retain its lead atop the latest GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll. The defending Division II national champion, the Pacers have held the top spot the entire season. Cal. State-Bakersfield once again came in at the number two position, followed by Central Oklahoma, who grabbed a first-place vote of its own. West Florida dropped a spot to number four while Rollins jumped four rungs to fifth. Hawaii-Hilo and Georgia College & State Univ., who grabbed the last first-place vote, each fell two slots to numbers six and seven, respectively. Western Washington, Armstrong Atlantic and Lynn closed out this week?s top ten. Barry jumped two spots to check in at No. 11, followed by Cal. State-Stanislaus, Delta State, Cameron and Grand Canyon. Florida Southern and UC-San Diego each slipped two rungs to come in at Nos. 14 and 15, respectively. Columbus State flew up four slots to No. 18 while North Alabama and Chico State each rose a position to complete the top 20. Saint Martin?s, Florida Gulf Coast, Coker, Pfeiffer and Northeastern State round out the poll. Nova Southeastern and St. Edward?s each fell from the poll this week. The GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll is voted on by a panel of head coaches at Division II institutions. All are members of the Golf Coaches Association of America. The next Division II GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll will be released May 6.
