Norway Grabs Lead in Rain-Soaked Third Round of 2006 Toyota World Junior Golf Team Championship
Marius Thorp of Norway take comand of individual competition

TOYOTA CITY, Japan ? With a 9-under third round, Norway became the first team other than Sweden to lead the 2006 Toyota World Junior Golf Team Championship at the Chukyo Golf Club Ishino Course in Toyota City, Aichi-Prefecture, Japan. Norway?s three-day total is now 622 (-26), three strokes ahead of the Swedes (-23). Japan fired a 7-under 209 to claim the third position at minus-21, which leads Chinese Taipei (-16) by five shots. Marius Thorp of Norway carded a third-round 65 to move to 12-under for the tournament, two lower than Sweden?s Bjorn Akesson and Naoto Nakanishi of Japan (-10).

Argentina and The Netherlands each fired 214 in the third round to remain tied for fifth (-9), a single stroke of two-time defending champion USA (-8). Canada (-3) and New Zealand (-2) rounded out the teams in the red while Colombia is sitting 10th at even par. England (+1), South Africa (+3), Korea and Venezuela (+6) and Mexico (+26) finish up the team standings.

Trailing the top three individual competitors are Sweden?s Jesper Kennegard and Tim Sluiter of The Netherlands at 9-under. Norway?s Anders Kristiansen sits in the sixth position at minus-8, a stroke in front of Chinese Taipei?s Pan Cheng-Tsung, Shunsuke Sonoda of Japan and America?s Kyle Stanley (-7). Alan Wagner rounded out the top 10 with a 6-under 210.

The other American competitors - Jordan Cox, Hudson Swafford and Alex Volpenhein - shot 75, 76 and 70, respectively. Volpenhein is now at even par for the tournament with a 216 which ties him for 24th, Cox is 5-over at 221 (T46) and Swafford is tied for 51st at 223 (+7).

The final round tees off Friday morning with the forecast calling for more rain.
