Methodist Tops in First GCAA/Bridgestone Division III Coaches Poll

Monarchs claim six first-place votes

NORMAN, Okla. ?

Methodist claimed six first-place votes and grabbed the No. 1 ranking in the first GCAA/Bridgestone Division III Coaches Poll for the season. The Monarchs are followed by Oglethorpe - who claimed one first-place ballot - and third-ranked Guilford- who garnered the remaining four first-place votes.

Emory entered the poll at fourth and was followed by Huntingdon, Saint John?s (Minn.) and Otterbein. Wisconsin Eau-Claire, defending national champion Nebraska Wesleyan and La Grange completed the top 10.

Allegheny checked in at No. 11 while Gustavus Adolphus and Texas Lutheran tied at No. 12. Transylvania was ranked No. 14. Rhodes, Ohio Wesleyan, Redlands, Skidmore, Rochester and Salem State filled spots 15-20.

Greensboro, Mary Hardin-Baylor, St. John Fisher, Illinois Wesleyan and McMurry rounded out the top 25.

The GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll is voted on by a panel of head coaches at Division III institutions. All are members of the Golf Coaches Association of America. The next GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll will be released Oct. 26.
