Stanford Replaces Florida as Top Team
NEW YORK, NY?The second Golf World/Nike Golf Division I Coaches? Poll has been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine, Nike Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The complete results, including results from Divisions II, III and the NAIA, will appear in the March 16 issue of Golf World.
Stanford, previously ranked number two, has claimed the top spot from Florida. The Cardinal, who hadn?t won a tournament since the fall of 2000, have already won five tournaments this season, including last week?s USC Collegiate Invitational. Four of the Stanford players have sub-72 stroke averages (Matt Savage, 71.11; Zack Miller, 71.25; Joseph Bramlett, 71.42; Rob Grube, 71.71). They next play at the Oregon Duck Invitational March 26-27.
Rounding out the top five are: Florida (No.2), Georgia (No.3); Oklahoma State (No.4); Alabama (No.5). BYU (No.9) enters the top ten for the first time after being ranked No. 13 in the previous poll. The Cougars won the John Burns Invitational in February.
