Georgia Remains Number One
Oklahoma State and Southern California Move Into Top-Five
NEW YORK, NY?The final Golf World/Nike Golf Division I Coaches? Poll of the spring has been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine, Nike Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
Georgia remains the top team, earning 11 of the 23 first-place votes. The Bulldogs finished sixth at the SEC Championship last month, but bounced back with a 19-shot win at the Linger Longer Invitational on Monday. The team next competes in the NCAA East Regional at the Golf Club of Georgia in Alpharetta from May 17-20.
On the strength of conference victories, Oklahoma State (No.4) and Southern California (No.5) have cracked the top-five. They were ranked No.7 and No.8 respectively in the last poll. The Cowboys won the Big 12 title last month, then claimed the team victory at the Maxwell Invitational last weekend. The Trojans were decisive winners at the Pac-10 Championship last month.
Six different teams received first-place votes, the most in any one poll this year. Florida State (No.25) has moved back into the top twenty-five.
