Sweden?s Lead Cut to One in 2007 Toyota World Junior Golf Team Championship
Putnam?s 65 leads Americans back to even
TOYOTA CITY, Japan ? Norway (-22) shot a third-round 207 to cut Sweden?s (-23) lead to a single stroke at the 2007 Toyota World Junior Golf Team Championship. New Zealand jumped up the board with a nine-under 204 to move into third place at 12-under.
Norway?s Anders Kristiansen (-13) shot a 67 to break the tie between he and Jesper Kennegard of Sweden in the individual competition. Kennegard now sits at minus-11 after shooting a third-round 69. Chinese Taipei?s Cheng-Tsung Pan and defending individual champion Marius Thorp of Norway are tied for third at seven-under.
Chinese Taipei (-9) currently sits in fourth place after a third-round 207. South Africa (-7) also shot a 207 to move into the number five slot. Australia (-5), Mexico (-5), Japan (-4) and the United States (-) round out the teams at or below par. The teams above par through three rounds are Canada (+3), Argentina (+4), Scotland (+7), Venezuela (+19) and Singapore (+20).
Bjorn Akesson (-6) of Sweden and New Zealand?s Peter Spearman-Burn check in tied for fifth. Andrew Putnam (-5) of the United States used a third-round 65 to move into a tie for seventh along with Mexico?s Mauricio Azcue and Pontus Widegren of Sweden. Dean O?Riley of South Africa tied the course record with a 64 and finds himself tied with Australia?s Matthew Giles for 10th at four-under.
Russell Henley shot a 70 while Steve Ziegler carded a 74 and Spencer Cole a 75 for Team USA. Putnam leads the way tied for seventh place with Cole tied for 25th (+2), Henley tied for 37th (+5) and Ziegler tied for 44th (+8).
The final round tees off Friday morning with forecasters calling for thunderstorms throughout the day.
