Saint John's Remains Top Team in Division III Golf World/NIKE Golf Coaches Poll
NEW YORK, NY ? The second Golf World/NIKE Golf Division III Coaches Poll of the fall season has been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine, NIKE Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
Saint John's (Minn.) remains in the number one spot, earning nine of the 11 first-place votes. The Johnnies, defending DIII NCAA Champions, open their season at the Wisconsin-Eau Claire Invitational, Sept. 23-24. Rounding out he top five are Methodist (No. 2), Oglethorpe (No. 3), Guilford (No. 4) and LaVerne (No. 5).
Alabama is second in the poll and returns all five of their starters from last year?s squad that had been ranked at the top of the polls for much of the year.
Texas Lutheran (No. 9) jumped into the top 10 after bing tied for No. 11 in the previous coaches poll. The Bulldogs won their season-opening event, the TLU John Bohmann Memorial Invitational. Olivet (No. 24) is the lone team to move into the top 25.
