2008 GCAA National Convention Schedule

2008 GCAA National Convention

October 18, 2007

Welcome

The GCAA National Advisory Board (NAB) is pleased to announce that the 2008 GCAA National Convention will be held January 13-16 at the Disney Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, Florida. We hope you all can join us in Orlando as we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the GCAA.  The Coronado Springs Resort is conveniently located approximately 20 miles from the Orlando International Airport. This year?s convention dates will again coincide with the PGA Merchandise Show held January 17-19 at the Orange County Convention Center.

Once again in order to allow coaches the opportunity to sign up for the convention at the time they pay their membership, we have included information on your invoice statement. Let me encourage you to take advantage of this at your earliest convenience.

Events
This year the Hall of Fame dinner will open the convention with the awards dinner on Monday, January 14 beginning at 7:00 p.m. Join us as we honor our members for their outstanding contributions to our profession for 2007.

The Kermit Blosser Memorial Golf Classic will again be presented by E-Z-GO and will be held on Wednesday afternoon, January 16 a Disney's Palm Golf Course. In this year?s golf tournament each player will again play his or her own ball counting the two low scores per hole. Your entry fee (included in the ALL SESSION FEE) will include cart, green fee, range, box lunch, soft drinks and awards ceremony.

This year's schedule will allow for additional time for general discussion on topics pertinent to improving college golf at all levels. As in years past we are scheduling divisional breakout sessions which will be held on Tuesday, January 15. We anticipate NCAA Division I, II, and III golf committee members as well as NAIA and NJCAA representatives in the respective breakout sessions. NCAA, NAIA and hopefully NJCAA staff liaison will also be in attendance to address questions and concerns. The current status of topics such as regional selections, regional championships, national championship seeding, etc. will be updated for the membership. Those in attendance at the convention will have the opportunity to provide direct input to the individuals conducting your championships.

The convention schedule will include panel discussions led by top coaches around the country. Additional topics and speakers will be added in the coming months. Back again to lead a breakout session V-1 Golf, our corporate technology partner, who will be onsite to present an interactive training session. This has been one of the top breakout sessions at the last two conventions.

Our Corporate Partners Exhibit Night will be held at the Coronado Springs Resort on Tuesday, January 15 from 4:00 p.m. ? 8:00 p.m. Great food and drink will be provided as always.
