Hogan Award Sponsor Named and Date Set

FORT WORTH, TEXAS - Colonial Country Club officials announced the 2008 Ben Hogan Award will be sponsored by Chesapeake Energy and held on Sunday evening, May 18 in Fort Worth. The annual black-tie affair recognizes the top male collegiate amateur golfer, and is hosted by Colonial, Friends of Golf (FOG) and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
 
The Hogan Award Watch List will be announced February 20, with the semifinalists named April 16. Three finalists named on May 7 will be invited to Colonial Country Club for the Hogan Award presentation. The 1964 U.S. Open winner and former CBS golf analyst Ken Venturi will be the keynote speaker.

Past award recipients include PGA TOUR winners Hunter Mahan, D.J. Trahan and Mark Wilson. Last year?s recipient, Chris Kirk, will compete in the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial May 19-25, as each year?s winner is invited to the following year?s PGA TOUR event at Colonial. Ben Hogan won the tournament five times in his professional career.
