Haavisto named 2020 Division III Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award Recipient

NORMAN, Okla. — Elias Haavisto of Averett has been named the recipient of the 2020 Division III Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award.

Haavisto posted a scoring average of 70.9 over the course of the 2019-20 season, earning two individual wins and three top-ten finishes in five total events. The No. 3 ranked golfer in Golfstat was named the USA South Conference Rookie of the Week five times, while also earning USA South Co-Golfer of the Week honors once.

Haavisto closed out his impressive freshman campaign by earning PING All-South Region honors, as well as being selected as a PING First Team All-American.

Alan Chen of NYU, Alex Price of Christopher Newport, Evan DiSanto of Wittenberg, Scott Boyajian of Aurora, and Daniel Nunez of Trinity (TX) all joined Haavisto on the All-Freshman Team.
