GCAA Announces Summer Series presented by: John T. Reis Foundation
NORMAN, Okla. – The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) has announced the launch of the GCAA Summer Series presented by: John T. Reis Foundation, a series of elite amateur tournaments to be played from mid-June through early August. The tournaments will be three-day events played across the country and are eligible to college age men’s golfers or individuals who were on a team roster in 2020-21.
"The John T. Reis Foundation is proud to be the title sponsor of the Golf Coaches Association of America Summer Amateur Series,” stated John Reis. “Having been involved in the 2020 GCAA Fall Amateur Series, where collegians were given the opportunity to compete at the highest level, I have seen how vital and exciting this series has become. It makes it possible for collegians of all NCAA, NAIA, and NJCAA divisions to compete throughout the summer at some of the country’s finest courses, including some great university courses.
“Covid-19 certainly took its toll on college golf in 2020, and the Foundation takes pride in making it possible for so many to compete this summer. Thanks to the GCAA, its staff, the host courses, and most importantly the golf coaches themselves for being a part of this.“
“I am very excited for the GCAA Summer Series presented by the John T. Reis Foundation. Being able to provide student-athletes with a quality competitive experience on some outstanding golf courses is exactly what the Summer Series is designed to do. The National Advisory Board hopes these experiences will serve to better prepare college golfers as they head back to their own teams in the Fall,” said GCAA President John Kennaday.
The tournaments will be recognized by WAGR.
The GCAA is again partnering with Golfstat to provide a completely digital scoring platform.
