2022 GCAA Summer Series Announced

NORMAN, Okla. - The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced today its plans for the 2022 GCAA Summer Series presented by the John T. Reis Foundation. The Sand Hills Invitational at Carolina Trace Country Club (June 6-8) begins the series and will be followed by The Clover Classic at The Warren Golf Course (June 13-15), The Carlsbad Classic at Omni La Costa - Champions Course (August 1-2), and The Peach State Invitational at Legends @ Château Élan (August 8-9).

Carolina Trace Country Club, located in Sanford, North Carolina, boasts two 18-hole golf courses designed by famed golf course architect Robert Trent Jones, Sr. Both offer championship golf with vistas of Lake Trace and soaring Carolina pines. Rounds 1 and 3 will be played at the Lakes Course, while Round 2 will be played at the Creek Course.

The Warren Golf Course, located around the University of Notre Dame campus, is a links-style course comfortably nestled on 250 wooded acres. Expertly preserved as a wildlife habitat, the course received the coveted Audubon International certification. Lush fescue fairways, softly rolling terrain, and the golden dome in the background make the course a beauty to behold.

Located just north of San Diego in Carlsbad, California, the Champions Course at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa is a links-style course with generous landing areas, subtle elevation changes, deep bunkers, and firm and fast conditions. 36 holes will be played on Day One, with the Second Round beginning immediately following the conclusion of Round 1. Day Two will include the third and final round.

From the rolling Georgia hills of the Woodlands greens to the serene valley lakes that distinguish the Chateau’s fairways, few golf destinations possess the beauty and variety of Chateau Elan Golf Club’s championship golf. The Legends Course, located in Braselton, Georgia, is the masterpiece of celebrated golf greats Gene Sarazen, Sam Snead, and Kathy Whitworth. Each selected six of their favorite holes from around the world, then crafted each hole onto The Legends layout.

In its inaugural year, the 2021 GCAA Summer Series saw staunch competition throughout eight tournaments. A highlight came in the final round of the Summer Series Championship, where Howard’s Gregory Odom Jr. shot a 2-under 69 to come from behind and earn an exemption into the 2022 Ontario Open, a Mackenzie Tour-PGA Tour Canada event. Other winners of 2021 GCAA Summer Series events included David Nyfjall (Northwestern) at The Pfau Course, Carter Graf (NC State) at Lonnie Poole Golf Club, Luka Karaulic (Georgia Tech) at Tennessee National Golf Club, James Song (Cal) at Bayonet Golf Course, Henry Frizzell (Arkansas Tech) at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club, David Timmins (BYU) at Omni La Costa Champions Course, and AJ Shaffer (Charlotte) at Penn State Golf Course.
