Crouch Leads After First Round at The Patriot All-America Invitational
Litchfield Park, Ariz. – Tim Crouch carded 4-under 66 to pace the field after the first round at The Patriot All-America Invitational on the Gold Course at The Wigwam in Litchfield Park, Ariz. Kyle Westmoreland shot 67 to sit in second place and leads a contingent of seven other players who finished the first round under par and within three shots of the lead.
Crouch got of to a rough start with a bogey at the third hole but responded with a stretch of birdies at Nos. 5, 7 and 8 to move to 2-under. He bogeyed No. 10 to drop back to 1-under but immediately responded with another stretch of three birdies in four holes to surge to 4-under through 14. After bogey on No. 17, Crouch just missed holing out for eagle on his final hole before settling for birdie.
“Basically, I wanted to get off to a good start," said Crouch. “I got off to a little shaky start with a bogey on No. 3 that put me 1-over after three holes. I was able to calm down, relax and play my game. I birdied No. 5 - the par 4 there — and was able to rattle off four or five birdies between seven and 14. I played pretty well through that stretch. I just wanted to get into the house with 16, 17 and 18 being pretty tough holes. I have a good feeling getting one in but I’ve got a lot more work to do.”
Second round action will begin at 9:30 am off both the 1st and 10th tees.
